I recently read @timkellernyc’s most current release The Prodigal Prophet. Keller has preached through Jonah several times through his life; however, he said he wrote it, because his wife wanted him to! That was a great idea!
There are 12 chapters: 9 chapters on exposition and the last 3 chapters applying it to the life of the reader. I really enjoyed going through the text with him, as he pointed out several things that I hadn’t seen before. The timing of this book is awfully close to perfect. The themes of Nationalism and racism in Jonah are clear. If you don’t believe me, read the book!
Through Jonah, Keller teaches us how to live christianly and love others—others that aren’t like us—the way Christ would. Pick it up!
I am giving a 4.5/5 to The Prodigal Prophet. This is definitely a resource I will come back to next time I’m in Jonah.
